Housing News from the Town Manager’s Office*
An informational session on new affordable housing opportunities in Winchester will be held at the Jenks Center (109 Skillings Road) on Thursday, May 11, 1:00-2:30 pm. Attendees can learn about affordable units for moderate and middle-income households, with expected availability starting in August. Properties covered include: 19-35 River Street; 416 Cambridge Street; 87-89 Cross Street; Waterfield; and the Washington and Swanton development. There will also be an overview of the town’s new Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) bylaw. The event is sponsored by the Winchester Housing Coalition, the Winchester Affordable Housing Trust, and the Winchester Housing Partnership Board. More information here.
There are two new rental communities opening in Winchester: Sanctuary West at 416 Cambridge Street (95 units), and Sanctuary North at 25 River Street (147 units). Several units at each property are available through an affordable housing lottery: 24 at the Cambridge Street property, and 37 at the River Street location, for a total of 61 apartments available to households earning no more than 80% of the Area Median Income. The lottery is now open, and the deadline to apply is 2:00 pm on May 31, 2023. The lottery will take place on June 14. For more information, click here.
