Authorfest Returns to Schools
Special to the News
Winchester welcomes 17 authors and illustrators of children’s books next week in a diverse and joyous celebration of children’s literature. Winchester’s education foundation (WFEE) funds and organizes Authorfest with generous support from the Winchester Co-operative Bank. Photo above is author Lesa Cline-Ransom
This year’s presenters, visiting the schools on Thursday, include Newbury Honor Award winner Rajani LaRocca at McCall Middle School. Critics have called her book Red, White and Whole “heartbreakingly hopeful” and “a beautiful tender novel.”

Each elementary school will welcome up to seven presenters for classroom visits that focus on the writing process and the creation of books and encouraging all students to see themselves as authors. Classroom visits are for kids only but at 2:30 pm on Wed. Oct 26 everyone is invited to Town Hall to meet the presenters and purchase autographed books.
Beat the rush to buy by pre-ordering through Book Ends at https://bookendswinchester.com/catalog/authorfest-2023 . Books can be picked up at Town Hall on the 26th. For a complete list of presenters visit WFEE’s website, www.wfee.org. Community donations to WFEE and a major gift from the Winchester Co-operative Bank fund Authorfest annually.
