New Zoning Review Advisory Committee Needs Volunteers

September 21, 2023. The Planning Board is looking to fill the five seats for the newly created Zoning Review Advisory Committee (ZRAC). The residents on ZRAC will work in conjunction with the Planning Board on two of their main projects: creating updated and new zoning for the GBD-2 and GBD-3 (General Business Districts) and creating new zoning to establish the Multi-Family Overlay Districts to comply with the state’s Section 3A MBTA Communities Multi-Family Housing requirements. Proposed changes will be presented to the Spring 2024 Town Meeting in April for approval.
The duties of the ZRAC will include: meeting every three weeks from October 2023 to April 2024, familiarizing themselves with zoning language and state guidelines, working with the Planning Board Working Group, Town Planner, consultants Innes Associates and Form + Place, make recommendations to the Planning Board that reflect the Planning Board’s goals and reflect the needs and priorities of stakeholders as set forth in the Winchester 2030 Master Plan and the Compliance Guidelines for Multi-Family Zoning Districts Under Section 3A of the Zoning Act and finally to help facilitate communications with residents and property owners and help ensure strong attendance and support at Community Meetings from October 2023 to April 2024.
