Local author releases new children’s book

Winchester resident Amy Moy just released the second picture book in Polka-Dotted Penguin series, “Dottie Meets Mully the Bully.” The first book “The Polka-Dotted Penguin” introduced Dottie, a penguin with diverse abilities, who this time stands up to a bully named Mully. It’s part of the author’s experience with her own daughter who has Down syndrome. Moy hopes the books apply to children of all abilities, while making the case that differently-abled kids can be proud of themselves.
Moy is an optometrist at the New England College of Optometry and she sees patients at Boston Children’s Hospital’s neighborhood satellite called Martha Eliot Health Center. She’s also the Senior Director of Community Health Initiatives at the optometry school.
Moy’s daughter Evie is 8 years old and goes to Ambrose. She told the News, “We have a YouTube channel to increase representation of kids with disabilities. https://youtube.com/@EvietheExtraordinary?si=LFwScJG_tZECxdsR
Moy’s website is https://www.polkadottedpenguin.com where readers can get more information about the books I have written. She just read the new book to the kids at Ambrose and says that BookEnds just bought some copies, “so hopefully they will be in soon!”
