Local doctor named pathology chair at Mount Auburn Hospital

Cambridge, Mass. –– Mount Auburn Hospital (MAH) has named Winchester resident John Perry, MD, as the new chair of the Department of Pathology. Perry has served as interim chair since March of 2022 and has been with MAH since 2013 as a pathologist.
“John is a widely respected and devoted physician colleague and there is no one better suited for this role,” said Toni Golen, MD, chief medical officer at MAH. “He has consistently demonstrated his commitment to providing the highest quality care to the patients we serve.”
As a staff pathologist, Perry helped his department examine 15,000 surgical cases a year. From 2014-2019, he was an instructor in the endocrinology section at Tufts University School of Medicine. He also continues to serve on several committees at MAH, including the Cancer Committee and the Multidisciplinary Pulmonary Nodule Committee.
“I am honored and excited to be selected as chair of Pathology,” said Perry. “We have an impressive group of pathologists at Mount Auburn who work tirelessly behind the scenes to bring extraordinary care to our community. I hope to lead them with integrity and perseverance, with their continued professional support.”

Perry graduated magna cum laude from Boston University with a bachelor of science degree in Chemistry. He earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine.
